Description
In this Classic Course ‘Chanel’ jacket you learn the special haute couture techniques for making a so-called ‘Chanel-inspired jacket’. This classic, straight jacket, with which Coco Chanel conquered the world in the 1950s, have since then never left out of the fashion scene.
In this course we do a lot by hand, giving the jacket a number of unique features that greatly enhance the wearing comfort and appearance. You work on a jacket for yourself or for someone else. This person must then be present twice briefly for adjusting the jacket on the body (no haute couture without a perfect fit!)
Model and materials
For a first jacket we assume a short model in a plain fabric. This emphasizes the fit, techniques and decorations and will be more than enough a challenge for a first time. After registering for the course you will receive a list of materials for the jacket. You may expect to few hundred Euro for the cost of the materials. Average fabrics can be found from 80-100 Euro per meter. But sometimes you can be lucky to find a piece of 25 Euro per meter at an outlet or market stall. That immediately lowers the price of the jacket considerably. Satin silk is used as a lining. Choose a 100% silk fabric. Buttons, yarn and ties can double the cost if you’re looking for original Chanel trims or beautiful vintage materials. But of course you can also choose more moderate copies. Your taste, your style.
