The new season is about to start! And with the new season a new program for Dutch Couture Academy. I’m eager to share it with you, so here it comes:
Training Broderie d’Art- Haute Couture Embroidery
The annual program as many of you know through this website or social media has been overhauled. Some parts have expired, others have been replaced and we have also made a new combination. Despite these changes, the core of the program remains intact: teaching people the skills to move within the haute couture in the field of embroidery.
In this program you are not only learning how to make perfectly executed stitches. You learn how to bring inspiration to life from a mood board and translate it into embroidery as well. We also help you on your way to finding the materials and translating them into a pattern. This knowledge is unique and is not offered at other embroidery school. It will give you a look-behind-the-scenes …
Will everyone following this program also work in haute couture? No! There are countless possibilities to apply what you learn here in your own unique way.

What is new now is, that we have chosen for a combination of broderie d’art and Al Aire embroidery. This combination offers endless possibilities for crossovers. Because Al Aire is very expressive, this technique is also very suitable for more dramatic designs. The speed with which you can work allows designers to add special embroidery to their collection without a major investment. This increases the options for getting orders. The discovery with which Al Aire can process residual material into fantastic new fabrics also appeals to many participants.

Training in Couture Pattern- and Sewing Techniques
After the success in recent years of a well-defined trajectory for embroidery techniques where people have really seized the opportunity to give their lives a new twist and to go for a life with craftsmanship, we have now also put together another special program: a Training in Couture Pattern- and Sewing Techniques.
This program brings together four courses that each represent a special aspect of pattern making and sewing for haute couture:
- Course Classic Chanel Jacket haute couture
- NEW! Corset: Haute Couture Techniques and Applications
- Draping Course (still to be translated)
- Course Japanese Pattern Techniques
The knowledge you gain in these courses is unique, practical and artistic. The starting point is good design, so we devote time and attention to developing an eye for this good design. The program is intended for people with extensive sewing experience who want to further develop their skills and gain new insights. This is anything but the easy work: every course requires a considerable effort if you want to get the most out of it. But then you can also develop at lightning speed.
We welcome a new teacher this season: Irene Schaepman. Irene has had her own couture wedding studio for over twenty years and knows the tricks of the trade. Take a look over her shoulder to see how she creates her designs. Get inspired by new techniques and expand your options.
