11 december 2015 was de laatste les in een serie lessen voor het programma Mastering Broderie d’Art level1. Het verslag hieronder is geschreven door één van de Italiaanse stagiaires die op dit moment vanuit Milaan in het atelier stage lopen.
Two weeks ago my dear friend Mary and I started an exciting new partnership with the Dutch designer Saskia ter Welle in her ” little piece of paradise”: the atelier Saskia ter Welle Colour | Style | Design.
And here, for the first time, I get to know the beautiful technique of broderie d’art. It is incredible! With a varied amount of different materials she can create real own jewelry with her hands… the art of haute couture embroidery. Even in Milan I had never seen something so beautiful and original.
And on this Friday we had the opportunity to be present at the last lesson of the course that she was giving. All students were able to demonstrate their work and creativity and the technique they learned from Saskia. I believe that, as well as being an excellent teacher technically, she’s a real motivator and inspiration to her students. She taught me that with hard work and with a dream if you believe, everything is doable..
I saw how her work was important for all her students and how to them the technique of broderie art is an outlet for their creativity and how with the same technique, they were able to create unique work really different from each other … as if what they have created is a reflection of their personality.
For example one woman created a beautiful collar using materials really unusual for broderie d’art, which was really interesting. Another created a really cool hat, a sparkling umbrella, a party dress , and a lot of decorations that can be applied on all the accessory that you want!!
I absolutely loved this thing …. how art is the expression of what you really are and brings out your soul …
In fact, it was really fun to challenge myself and I created my first piece of embroidery and with the same material and the same delivery none of us did the same type of flower 🙂 and how relaxing and reflective practice this art is!
