Masterclass Flowers for Fashion
Flowers form an endlessly inspiring theme within haute couture. No season goes by or a designer has not worked out a collection around the theme of flowers somewhere.
Flowers come in all shapes, colours and sizes. The appearance of flowers varies enormously. This does not make it a boring theme; it makes it a particularly versatile theme!
No wonder that anyone who explores the field of haute couture will enjoy some knowledge and skills in making silk flowers. Whether you are going to implement this technique yourself, or want to know what the possibilities are: in both cases you are very welcome to come to Doesburg!
Flowers are an endlessly inspiring theme within the haute. You become acquainted with various techniques, such as:
- whether or not to prepare the material
- forming leaves with irons and other tools
- making stamens
- making a delicate or robust flower
- manually forming flowers
- fabric processing
- decorating flowers with beads and sequins
We have compiled an all-round program in which you orientate yourself broadly on the theme of flowers. You can implement various techniques, depending on your work pace. In any case, you will receive a clear description of these techniques so that you can continue experimenting with them at home.
No prior education required. If you are familiar with tambour embroidery, you might consider bringing your frame and tambour needle (make sure that there is already fabric in your frame: that saves valuable time!).
This course is an extensive version (with more techniques) of the Silk Flower Making course, which can be followed as a group workshop at Dutch Couture Academy. The techniques are not discussed in other embroidery courses and are therefore a nice addition for those who embroider and sew.
