Thank you for your interest in taking an online haute couture embroidery course at Dutch Couture Academy. We receive requests through various channels. Here we have bundled the current information for this moment.
The Holy Grail … and what was still missing
Saskia ter Welle has 10 years of experience in teaching haute couture embroidery techniques, both online and offline.
She was trained at one of the most famous embroidery schools in the world, but discovered, when she came home to her studio, that only the knowledge of the technique itself did not prepare her for all the tasks that lay ahead.
Think of 1) how to source your materials, 2) how to translate an idea into a real embroidery design, and especially: 3) how to let the world know that you can do all of this.
The Solution
That’s why she created basically two different courses:
1) An introduction to haute couture embroidery
All the basic techniques in one place! Clear instructions and video’s plus a wonderful Facebook group to connect with other students and ask questions. This course is for both amateurs and professionals who are new to tambour embroidery.
2) A professional training program to make haute couture embroidery part of your professional skillset and creative business. This course will be open to anyone who followed the Introduction Course, or who has a similar embroidery experience and knowledge. If in doubt, feel free to send us pictures and to discuss this.
The first course is already available and takes about four days to complete. After finishing, you can create your own simple, yet stylish, embroidery from start to finish.
As for the second course, we now have most of it available in Dutch and are working on translating the materials into English. We plan to start this course on June 1, 2020 with a group of truly dedicated students. We provide many shared online moments, so that it feels like you are part of a class.
Start now with the Introduction Course
If you are interested in following the professional training, or if you just want to get to know the basic skills for haute couture embroidery, please start with this course as soon as possible. It will change your perspective of what you can do completely. It will bring you many new ideas for the future to level up your creative projects.

Could you let me know what you think about it?
Have a wonderful day. Stay strong. Stay safe.

Couture training
The program of workshops, masterclasses and courses at Dutch Couture Academy is aimed at (future) professionals in the fashion industry who are looking for an opportunity to specialise in couture techniques. Enthusiastic amateurs are also very welcome! In the courses a balance is sought between technology and inspiration, between knowledge and skills and artistic expression.
