Dutch Couture Academy was founded by Saskia ter Welle.
Saskia ter Welle, trained in haute couture embroidery techniques at, among others, Ecole Lesage, an embroidery school that is part of CHANEL in Paris, combines her love of design and dressmaking with a passion for special, traditional techniques. As the first TR Master and TR Supermaster in the Netherlands she has gained extensive experience in developing unique 3D patterns for couture clothing.
Under her own name, she presented her first haute couture collection during the Amsterdam Fashion Week January 2017 entitled ‘Come Fly with Me’. Inspired by travel in Europe and Africa, she creates special designs for women who are looking for a unique outfit for special occasions or representative functions. Modern design and traditional techniques come together for a style that underlines the personality of the wearer. In 2019 and 2022, she showed an exclusive collection made of hand-woven Thai silk during Thai Silk International Fashion Week in Bangkok.
Within the Dutch Couture Academy, Saskia, in collaboration with a team of teachers, offers a wide range of courses that are accessible to all interested in developing craftsmanship within the field of fashion and couture. We work from inspiration and the development of craftsmanship to the forming of a specific, personal handwriting within a chosen direction. It is predominantly fashion professionals who find depth and enrichment of their knowledge and skills at Dutch Couture Academy.
